From Villarica we head further south. Instead of taking the rather boring highway 5 we drive along the Ruta Interlagos that connects the country roads from Lago Villarica to Lago Calafquén, to the small beach village of Choshuenco on Lago Panguipulli and to Puerto Fuy on Lago Pirihueico. Near Panguipulli we are lucky to see the harvesting of the largest cranberry fields outside the USA before continuing our route around Lago Ranco and then further south to the amazing Osorno volcano where we spend an afternoon and a spectacular full moon night right on the top car park by the ski lift station. Afterwards we drive around the Osorno volcano to Petrohué and another place further south before driving along the shorelines of Lago Llanquihue to Puerto Varas. It's also a week with the most halos we have ever seen.
